Mission Statement

 1.      The aim of The World Union of Jewish Students is to foster the unity of Jewish students worldwide and to strive to ensure their participation in the fulfillment of the aspirations of the Jewish people, its continuity, and the development of its religious, spiritual, cultural and social heritage. To that end, it seeks: 
             1.1.     To unite Jewish students worldwide.
  1.2.     To facilitate the exchange of ideas and information between its members and, where appropriate, to coordinate their activities.
  1.3.     To represent and act on behalf of its members before international authorities with respect to matters which concern Jewish students as a whole. 
  1.4.     To assist members and to encourage the formation of Jewish student organizations wherever there are Jewish students. 
  1.5.     To promote Zionism, strengthen the ties of Jewish students worldwide with the State of Israel as the central creative factor in Jewish life, and to pursue this through the encouragement of Aliya, strengthening the State of Israel and increasing the ties between the Jewish communities in Israel and the Diaspora. 
  1.6.     To strengthen the ties of solidarity among Jewish students by encouraging and assisting the creative development of young Jews in all spheres of Jewish life. 
  1.7.     To strengthen the relationship between the local Jewish student union and the Jewish community in which it resides. 
  1.8.     To encourage Jewish learning and to promote the study of Jewish culture generally and the knowledge of the Hebrew language and literature in particular. 
  1.9.     To educate Jewish students about the problems of Jewish survival in the Diaspora and to secure the rights, status, and interests of Jews and Jewish communities and to defend them wherever they are; to fight against racism, Anti-Semitism, Holocaust denial and revisionism, and to fight for Jewish continuity. 
  1.10. To do all others things which may be incidental to, or conducive to the attainment of the above aims.

The World Union of Jewish Students (WUJS) is a non-profit, grassroots body acting as the umbrella organisation of independent Jewish Student unions worldwide. The non-partisan, pluralistic nature of WUJS allows us to fulfil this mission.

Today, WUJS is represented in over 52 countries.


The WUJS Executive:

 WUJS, as a World Union, unites and represents students all over the world. In order to facilitate regional work and enhance outreach there are 5 continental unions, whose heads are the WUJS Executive primary members.The executive works closely with WUJS - to ensure that the direction that is taken is in the best interests of Jewish students all over the world. The members unions of the WUJS Executive are:

AUJS
Australasia: The Australasian Union of Jewish Students (AUJS).
EUJSEurope: The European Union of Jewish Students (EUJS).
NUISIsrael: The National Union of Israeli Students (NUIS).
FUSLALatin America: Federacion Universitaria Sionista Latinoamericana (FUSLA).
SAUJSSouth Africa: The South African Union of Jewish Students (SAUJS).


The Special Status Unions of the WUJS Executive are:

 UJSUK: Union of Jewish Students (UJS)

Campaigns:
Throughout its history, WUJS has always been actively involved in worldwide campaigning to combat prejudice and injustice. Some significant issues with which WUJS has been concerned include:

- Freeing Soviet and Ethiopian Jewry
- Releasing Israeli MIAs and receiving information about their condition
- Combating Anti-semitism Anti/Zionism/Israel
- Promoting women's rights
- Supporting students rights
- Organizing intercultural and interfaith activities


Providing Essential Tools:
Through its informative training seminars, practical handbooks and website WUJS continually assists Jewish students to make an impact on the world in which we live.

Whether the students unions require the cultural and religious knowledge to arrange a traditional Shabbat dinner on their campus, or the means necessary for organizing a rally or a workshop to combat anti-Semitism, WUJS will provide guidance and support on all aspects.
